Additional Information

Skipping Stones Theatre is a team of co-artistic leaders, Breanna Maloney, Kate McArthur, Sean O’Brien, and Tamara Freeman. We are an independent, Toronto-based theatre collective whose mandate is to explore stories through the lens of mental health and neurodiversity.  Using a broad range of theatrical styles, we foster understanding and create social change to build a healthier society while empowering artists of all genders, ethnicities, abilities, and intersections.

The Project

This project is a multi-disciplinary exploration of rage, repressed traumas, and witchcraft through a lens of intersectional feminism and healing. However, the collective is particularly interested in the comedic aspects and in destigmatizing/normalization responses to stress and trauma, education by breaking down and dramatizing these responses both experientially and scientifically.

We have divided the process into 2 stages: A) Research and Development, and B) Rehearsal and Performance. Currently, we are at the beginning of writing, research, and development and, in the name of true collaboration, strive to ensure that the ideas of everyone on the team are brought to the table.

Audition Information

The collective is currently seeking one performer/ collaborator to join this production ideally for both stages: A) Research and Development: part time work over 4 - 5 months with one weekly rehearsal from Feb. 2021 - May 2021, and B) Rehearsal and Performance: combination of part time and full time over 3 months from Sept. 2021 - Nov. 2021. We will be adhering to all Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions and, if necessary, will operate exclusively online. Access to a computer with a camera, and internet is needed.

Please note: We want to explicitly state that we are in the process of applying for funding. Skipping Stones Theatre has applied for the Arts Response Initiative with the OAC, as well as several Recommender Grants, and we are currently pursuing private funding as well. If we do not receive funding, we would have no expectation of time or energy on the part of any of our collaborators. Our number one priority is to pay our artists.
